Label Traxx™ operates as a Client/Server system, which offers complete multi-platform capabilities. This means you can use both Windows and Macintosh computers on the same TCP/IP network to utilize Label Traxx. Label Traxx may also be used as a stand-alone program on one computer as well.
The Label Traxx application is written in the 4th Dimension (4D) database language and uses the 4th Dimension database engine. There are 2 components to the 4th Dimension architecture: the data server application and the client application. The following hardware is required to successfully operate 4D Client and 4D Server:

* A dedicated machine is recommended for the Label Traxx server application. We also suggest having two hard drives so that you can run the operating system and 4D Server application on one drive, and use the second drive for backing up the data file. A tape storage device is also recommended to back up the second hard drive for off-site storage in the event of an emergency.
